Kaileen Galhouse of Galhouse Photography is a maternity photographer, newborn photographer, baby photographer, and children's photographer, both on location and in studio. Galhouse Photography services Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC, including Fairfax Virginia, Alexandria Virginia, Leesburg Virginia, Baltimore Maryland, Chantilly Virginia, McLean Virginia, and Rockville Maryland.
Kaileen Galhouse provides modern custom portraits in natural light settings, outdoor settings, and a studio environment. Kaileen is a newborn photographer, baby photographer, maternity photographer, and children's photographer. The goal of portrait sessions with Kaileen is to capture your child's spirit and personality in natural looking photographs. Sessions can take place in nearly any location of your choosing, but toddlers and children on the go tend to do better in outdoor environments.
Maternity photographs are a beautiful keepsake to remind you of this special period in your life. Maternity sessions are best conducted in the 34-38 weeks of gestational range. Kaileen typically only conducts maternity photography sessions in combination with newborn photographs. A reduced combined session fee applies.
Newborns are typically photographed in the first two weeks of life when they are "scrunchy" and sleep a lot of the time. Sleeping babies are easiest for the photographer to work with! Kaileen does not typically formally schedule newborn sessions since their arrival cannot be predicted with accuracy. However, please do get on her calendar ahead of time so that she can allow open space in her calendar around your due date.
Children may be photographed at any of multiple locations depending on the look and feel you want for your photographs. Kaileen strives to get a balance of close up photographs as well as full body photographs, and both candid expressions as well as smiling ones. Toddlers tend to do well when they have room to roam and things to interest them. However, it can be difficult to make eye contact with the photographer if there is too much activity, so it is generally best to steer clear of playgrounds.
For babies and children of all ages, getting eye contact with the subject is critical for the photographer to get the best images. As a parent, you can be of assistance in trying to achieve this. Limit the number of caretakers who you would like to be with the child in the session, or at least limit who will be in the shooting area. For babies, having too many people trying to get their attention often results in an over-stimulated child. For older children, if there are too many people asking them to "smile" or "say cheese", then it's difficult to get the natural looking expressions we are after.
Kaileen's studio is in Fairfax, Virginia and is generally appropriate for maternity photographs, newborn photographs, and baby photographs. In addition, Kaileen can bring a limited lighting setup to your home if you desire both natural light and "studio" shots.
This website contains galleries showing examples of maternity photographs, newborn photographs, baby photographs, and children photographs, as well as families and couples. There are also clothing recommendations for getting the best photographs possible.
